The Nellis Support Team, in conjunction with our fellow patriots of That May Others May Live Foundation and Shane Patton Foundation, is honored to be able to add $96,741 to the running total of dollars raised for our local military heroes and their families. The 3 Patriots Organization would like to thank everyone that attended and volunteered at the 5th Annual Military Sporting Clay Shoot. Their leadership and your participation in this important event has been pivotal to its success in generating more than $343,000 in the first five years. Your continued support will ensure that the mission of providing ongoing assistance to soldiers and their families marches forward successfully for years to come.
It is important to note that the gains made this year and over the last five would not be possible without the effort and dedication of the 3 Patriots Organization. This group is made up of Nellis Support Team members and associates and has been a key component in our ability to gain and maintain support for the mission. We are indebted to Billy Blackwell (Honorary Commander for the 823rd Maintenance Squadron), Chet Opheikens (Honorary Commander for the 66th Rescue Squadron), and John “Sonny” Latham (Former U.S. Navy Seal and Shane Patton Foundation Board Member) for their tireless dedication to the cause.
The 3 Patriots Organization, the foundations they serve, and supporters like you have been devoted to the duty of honoring the bravery and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. The That May Others May Live Foundation helps to provides immediate tragedy assistance, critical support and scholarships for the families of U.S. Air Force Rescue Heroes who are killed or severely wounded in operational or training missions. The Shane Patton Foundation is a Boulder City-based organization working to memorialize the honorable legacy and ultimate sacrifice of its namesake and his fellow soldiers of Operation Red Wings. Each year, these groups work together to host and promote events and initiatives which support and advance these objectives.
The first of the Annual Military Sporting Clay Shoot events was held five years ago on behalf of the That May Others May Live Foundation. The $30,000 raised at that inaugural outing served as the starting point for the team’s ongoing mission. One year later, the event grew and raised more than $45,000. Following that success, the group added the Shane Patton Foundation to the fold in order to assist with their drive to raise funds for a memorial to their namesake and Operation Red Wings, the valiant rescue mission where he and many of his fellow soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice. This memorial commemorates their heroic, yet tragic, mission to rescue Marcus Luttrell in Afghanistan. While our nation lost Shane and his fellow heroes during the operation, their coordination with the USAF Rescue Squadron, ultimately, led to the successful rescue of the “Lone Survivor.”
The heroism demonstrated as they sacrificed themselves for their fellow soldiers and nation is an inspiration to all. It is what motivates the members of the 3 Patriots Organization, Nellis Support Team and patriots such as yourself to support their selfless loyalty. Our combined efforts have driven the ongoing endeavor to provide financial support in their honor. Today, the growing coalition organizes and/or supports the aforementioned Annual Military Sporting Clay Shoot, The Nellis Air Force Base Rescue Squadrons’ Thanksgiving Feast, silent auctions, as well as promotes multiple groups with kindred objectives and goals. It is an endeavor with no end in sight, and one that needs the continuing support and participation of our fellow patriots.
